ICE!

We are stuck in an ice storm! Yesterday, I flew into Oklahoma City to find it covered in ice. After spending over 9 hours traveling with my little ones, I spent about 45 minutes scraping off my car - someone took pity on me and gave me their ice scraper because I didn't have one with me. I had the car heater and defrost going full blast the entire time. Emma was super tired and hungry, so she just cried her little eyes out. Sarah had the best time playing in the car and peeking through the windows at me. I never managed to get the doors on the driver's side to open, so when I got home Dennis had to use a rubber mallet to knock the ice off Sarah's door. It was just such an adventure for us.
For those of you who have never had the opportunity to be in an ice storm, I thought I'd take a picture of the bushes out our front door. It's just too weird to see the rooftops, trees, grass, and bushes covered in ice instead of snow. But, hey... a girl used to a white Christmas will take what she can get!

Dennis went to work today and said that most people didn't come in today, so he came home for a long lunch. I told him that he should skip out for the rest of the day and we could do our Christmas shopping. He didn't think that was such a great idea. Oh well... I tried. So, the girls and I have had a fun day with the fireplace going and we're just wondering if our power will hold on. Luckily, I learned how to start the fire myself today (huge acccomplishment - yeah me)! So, if the power goes out we'll be fine and we'll enjoy our little icy wonderland.

I've never been in an ice storm, or seen one. I can't imagine that everything could be covered in ice. I hope that you had a good time with family in Utah!

Crazy. I had never heard of an ice storm until we moved to Iowa. I was thinking about you when I saw Oklahoma on the news. I'm glad you are safe. Stay warm!

That is seriously nuts! I am glad that you and your girls kept warm. I love to check out your blog. I need to get all the other treehouse girls into blogging. Hey will you send me your address?
